Canbury Park Road Silver Jubilee Street Party

I’ve been part of a group of neighbours who have got together to hold a street party as part of the Queen’s Silver Jubilee celebrations.

Although I have lived on my road for a number of years, I haven’t really got to know many of my neighbours (part of being a busy working Mum), so when my neighbour asked if I would like to get involved I jumped at the chance.

It’s been such a lovely experience working with such a friendly bunch of people and pulling together to make something happen.

Our local dance school is doing a dancing display, our local printers have donated printing for our leaflets and flyers, a web designer on the road has created a website for us;
http://www.canburyparkroad.co.uk and our local gastro pub has donated a meal for two for the best dressed house on the day.

We also have musicians and photographers on the road who are donating their services for free.

My neighbour Lucy and I went out at the weekend to drop in leaflets and ticket details to our neighbours and had a fantastic response and met some lovely people; from teenagers and those who were retired and  people from all communities were so enthusiastic about the idea of us all coming together and getting to know each other.

Who says Londoners are unfriendly…what a lovely community I live in.
