I sit on the CIPR (Chartered Institute of Public Relation’s) Diversity Group and act as it’s media spokesperson.
The Group was set up to look at diversity in our profession with a particular focus on promoting the business case for having a more diverse workforce which reflects our vibrant society and encouraging a more diverse community to enter the profession.
In particular we are focussing on how we encourage more people who have disabilities and who are from BME communities to train for and enter our profession. We are also looking at women and the ‘glass ceiling’ and why women (particularly those who have children) are finding it difficult to get to the top.

Fantastic work. The industry needs to re-think it’s whole image, especially in terms of diversity. It seems quite ironic really, but we’re making a start, let’s continue with more implementations and action.
